Rei Wang BRD TrioLowDownAges 21+ BRD trio: The jazz collective known as BRD combines guitarist, Brian Belanus, bassist, Rei Wang, and drummer Dave Bowen. BRD strives to push the boundaries of the traditional jazz trio format by curating a dynamic set of original compositions and highlighting. Brian Belanus: Voice as a jazz guitarist blends traditional and modern jazz with a foundation of blues and rock and roll. His co-lead trio project, BRD, marries dynamic high-energy original compositions with thoughtful interpretations of jazz standards. Hear him performing with jazz vocalist, and wife, Micah, or as a genre blending freelance guitarist in pit-orchestras and venues throughout Oklahoma. Rei Wang: Rei Wang earned a Bachelor of Music from the Taipei National University of the Arts in classical performance. After graduation, she spent four years teaching, and gaining many performing experiences before deciding to go to school at the University of Central Oklahoma. After two years of study, Rei graduated with a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies, Jazz Performance. During her time in the top Jazz Ensemble in UCO, Rei was awarded an International Student Award from Downbeat Magazine, as well as being a winner and performer at the 2018 Monterey jazz festival Next Generation Jazz Festival. Rei is a co-founder of the jazz trio BRD, as well as being an in demand performer, private music teacher, arranger and composer. She currently resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with her husband, and BRD trio drummer David Bowen. David Bowen: David is originally from Yukon, Oklahoma and is now a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the University of Central Oklahoma. Mr. Bowen has toured extensively and player professionally since the 1990's and has returned to UCO to complete his degree. David also teaches privately and plays locally and regionally with various groups throughout Oklahoma and Texas. He has preformed with artists such as Ben E. King, Slid Hampton, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Peter Yellin, Phil Woods, Jason Marsalis, and many others. He currently resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his wife, and BRD trio co-founder Rei Wang.
