Meet China

Description
University Place, WA I’d like to introduce you to China (pron. Cheena). She is a 5 month old female pitty mix. She was adopted from a private party at 3 mos. China is current on all of her vaccinations, flea, tick, heartworm treatments, and she’s chipped. She’s house trained, crate trained, and will go potty on command. She’s not been spayed. However, she is scheduled for a spay on 7/29/22 through NW Spay and Neuter in Tacoma that I will cover regardless if adoption happens prior to her scheduled surgery. I didn’t bring her home with me until she was already 3 mos old and it’s difficult to get an appointment in a matter of weeks. If you want the backstory on this, or have any questions for that matter, please feel free to reach out ☺️ China is extremely affectionate. She loves cuddles, fetching her toys, and romping around with other dogs. China loves ice cubes and will come running when the freezer door opens and she hears ice being shuffled around. She’s an excellent traveler and will lay down and fall asleep as soon as she gets in the car. She’s not been exposed to kids under 8 y.o. so I’m not entirely sure what that interaction would look like. Her best seat in the house is right next to you. She is very well behaved in the crate if I have to leave during the day and not anxious at all when I come home. She will quietly wait until you open the crate door before she becomes happy with joy that you're home. Takes food and treats gently from you. Her training has been effortless. She is SUPER SUPER smart. She’s keen on queues, and behaves appropriately based on the queues. For instance, I work from home and as soon as I sit at my desk, she self taught and goes to lay down quietly. She will not disturb me and instinctively knows when I’m on lunch or done with work. She loves being in the sun, so someone who has a yard with other like animals would be ideal. This brings me to why I’m having to rehome her. China has been cooped up in my place outside of taking her out for bathroom breaks almost since the time I adopted her due to an unforeseen debilitating injury. She is taken to daycare occasionally just to help keep her socialized and provide her exercise. She is 10 carat gold sweetheart and for her age, she has been extremely patient with me. I am still working on her “reactiveness” with people and other dogs. Please don’t confuse this as aggressive. She’s never bit me and does not mind at all when I get into her personal space. The reactive part is not something I’m not able to work with her on by providing her access to people and other animals (except for daycare) to help midigate this behavior. While at daycare she is excellent with other dogs as well as the daycare employees. While on a leash, she tends to bark at her subjects which can seem intimidating. It’s more like she’s demanding attention rather than deterring interaction, because as soon as you approach her, offer affection, she is a complete teddy! My situation and my lack of ability to provide constant access to dogs and people is greatly contributing to this behavior. She's still young and in her development stages and she deserves to be able to enjoy this time. If I keep her longer than I have, I feel like it would be for selfish reasons doing a disservice to her well-being. I am dedicated to find her a loving home with new parent(s) that will care for her like I would want for her. I have a laundry list of items that would go with her as well. Please reach out if interested. Small rehome fee applies.
