Description

This in-person class will provide suggestions on how to build organic matter and fertility in garden and landscape soils. Florida soil is sandy, and most plants benefit from some soil amendments. This lecture in our air-conditioned classroom will cover composting, worm composting, leaf recycling, grass recycling, and plants you can grow that contain high amounts of nitrogen and other nutrients to build your soil. We will also discuss mineral amendments like rockdust that provides nutrients that may be lacking in some soils and for some crops. Class participants will receive a small sample of compost and get to touch and feel other amendments. $10.00 per person/Kids 12 and under are free. Presented by Tia Silvasy, Orange County Florida-Friendly Landscaping Agent. Pre-registration is required along with the non-refundable class registration fee.
