Applications are currently being accepted online at: POSITION: Maintenance Worker III, 8.0 hours per day CALENDAR: 260 days per year BUILDING: Maintenance Department PAY RANGE: $24.98 - $29.23, depending upon previous accepted experience POSITION START DATE: TBD COMPENSATION and BENEFITS: • $24.98 - $29.23, depending upon approved accepted experience • Longevity pay after completion of 6 years of employment • Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon School Employees Association) • Annual step pay increase awarded to eligible employees • 11 paid holidays annually • 12 paid sick leave days per year • 2 paid personal leave days per year • Paid vacation leave • 5 paid bereavement leave days per year, per occurrence • Up to $1,825. per month district-paid contribution toward full-family medical, dental and vision insurance (for full-time employees) • $450. per month opt-out stipend for employees who demonstrate other health insurance coverage under a qualifying employer sponsored group medical plan (for full-time employees) • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) • 6% district-paid contribution towards Oregon Public Employees Retirement System • $55. per month employer match into a tax sheltered annuity when employee contributes $35. per month MAINTENANCE WORKER III Maintenance and Custodial Department Purpose: The Maintenance Worker III helps ensure District facilities are maintained in a sanitary, safe and attractive manner by performing skilled repair and maintenance work. Reports to: Director of Maintenance Nature of Work: The Maintenance Worker III works independently following standardized routines under general supervision. The nature of the work requires adherence to policies, procedures and regulations. In addition to general repairs and maintenance tasks, the Maintenance Worker III possesses certification, training or apprenticeship that uniquely qualifies him/her to perform advanced repair and maintenance responsibilities. Supervision Exercised: No supervision exercised. Interface: Primarily interfaces with school administrators, teachers, staff, students and visitors. Essential Job Functions: 1. Performs a variety of maintenance and repair duties on District buildings, facilities and equipment, including electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and painting work. 2. Repairs and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical and water treatment systems, including disassembly, cleaning, filter changes, lubrication, belt replacement and reassembly. 3. Coordinates disposal of hazardous materials, including asbestos and fluorescent lighting. 4. Performs basic pest management functions, including application of restricted-use pesticides. 5. Implements lock out tag out procedures when working on hazardous machinery. 6. Repairs roofing and gutters and performs other outdoor building work requiring the safe operation of a lift. 7. Maintains and performs light repairs to plumbing equipment, including pipes, drains, sewer lines, faucets, washers and gaskets. 8. Installs and repairs locks, doors, hinges, door jambs and related hardware. 9. Maintains building exteriors, including patching holes and removing paint and graffiti. 10. Repairs broken custodial equipment or brings malfunctioning machinery to outside repair facilities. 11. Transports furniture, building equipment and supplies between District facilities as directed. 12. Prepares surfaces for painting and applies appropriate finishes. 13. Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills and grinders. 14. Monitors inventory of maintenance supplies and fills supply orders as needed. 15. Identifies and reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel. 16. Assists with building construction and renovation projects as required. 17. Maintains work areas, equipment and tools in a safe and orderly condition. 18. Maintains effective and respectful working relationships with staff and students. Required Qualifications: 1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must have two years experience in building maintenance and repair. 3. Must pass a criminal background check. 4. Must be able to read, write, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English. 5. Must possess a valid Oregon pesticide applicator license. 6. Must possess a valid Oregon drinking water systems certification. Working Conditions: The Maintenance Worker III works both indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather, including in the dark. The incumbent will frequently stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, sit, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel and reach in the normal course of their workday. At times, the incumbent will spend prolonged periods of time standing, walking, sitting, pushing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The incumbent will routinely lift up to to 55 lbs. by him/herself and lift more than 55 lbs. with assistance. The work environment is often controlled and often quiet, but it will also frequently include moderate to loud noise. The work environment includes exposure to fumes, cleaning solvents and vibration with some equipment. Other potential exposures and hazards include but are not limited to: chemicals, toxins, dirt, playground/office equipment, furniture, communicable diseases, and power/hand-operated equipment and machinery.
