Description

NEWBERG - STOP HOMELESS ENCAMPMENTS FROM BEING PLACED NEXT TO SCHOOLS • $25/hour (all payment must be by the hour and not by the signature). • Weekly pay (Wednesdays) • Very popular issue with voters • Flexible schedule The job involves going door to door in easy to walk neighborhoods to gather signatures on a city measure. There’s no fundraising involved, no high-pressure sales or solicitation. Only registered voters who vote in the City of Newberg may sign the petition sheet. We’re working with a dedicated team of volunteers to help them gather enough signatures to put a measure in front of the voters that would prevent homeless camps from being sited closer than 1,500 feet of a school. A current Newberg proposal would place a homeless encampment next door to an existing school and this measure would prevent this from happening without voter approval. We all want to help the unhoused and help people get off the street, but the current proposal before the Newberg City Council would put our children at risk. JOB REQUIREMENTS: You must dress and act professionally and be capable of walking through neighborhoods in the City of Newberg. The ideal time of day for this work is late afternoon and early evening, but as long as you’re meeting your signature gathering requirements, you may work at your schedule. Walk lists and maps will be provided. If you’re interested in helping with this measure, please fill out the application form on our website www.metronome.work/newberg
