Description
We are an instrumental jazz group playing (for our own entertainment) arrangements of interesting jazz songs by composers like T. Monk, W. Montgomery, G. Mulligan, M. Davis, et. al. We often play at Michiko Studios, and we all pitch in for the cost (no more than $20, and never with a profit motive). We play approximately once every two weeks in the fall and spring, and we have a lot of fun playing the arrangements and improvising to the tunes. The arrangements make it a step above just "head-solos-head" type of playing. The new player would need to be able to read (not difficult arrangements), be able to improvise, and of course, have good intonation and tone. Otherwise, it is very casual and friendly.
