The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine invite you to join workshop participants and members of the consensus committee for the Managed Retreat in the U.S. Gulf Coast Region study’s third regional workshop, part one. This part of the third workshop will be held on July 26, 2022, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm CT, at Nicholls State University, located at 906 E 1st St, Thibodaux, LA 70301. The workshop will focus on stories of people that are have been relocated and people that are contemplating, resisting, or facing obstacles to relocation. Members of the committee will have the opportunity to hear from Indigenous and traditional communities undergoing displacement and resettlement and other local leaders and decision-makers. Participants will be invited to share their stories of climate adaptation during a roundtable panel discussion on Equity in Community Viability and Environmental Change.
