Description

Hey there plant-lovers, We are itching to take you all up to a place we love to play: up Lolo Pass! It's not just for snowmobilers! We will meet at the Lolo Super Stop at the turn onto Highway 12 to car pool up the mountain. Here we’ll all introduce ourselves and enjoy the scenic semis before heading up the pass. We will be leaving promptly at 10:30am, so please be here earlier than that otherwise you might not find us as there is no service a few miles up! We'll be sharing our knowledge about different edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms in the area, with a stronger focus on those in season at the moment. Identification, foraging techniques, and modes of preparation will be covered as well. If we are lucky, we may even find a few morels! We have made this walk longer and further away to help folks get a chance to do a little harvesting without causing adverse impact on the land. Please bring your knives and bags in addition to your questions, a notebook and pen if you like, and plant identification books if you'd like one! We will also have a handful for folks to borrow. We look forward to exploring in the woods together! ******** Sydney and Cathryn are both passionate and longtime gatherers of wild food and medicine. They've served on the Board of Directors for the Western Montana Mycological Association for the last four years, planning events, teaching a wide variety of mushroom classes and keeping the fungal community engaged and connected. They both have experience in herbal medicine and agriculture (they will teach you about all the wonderful “weeds” around town), and a deep love of this land and all the plants living in their midst. They are humbled and delighted to be two of many on a long strand of plant-loving humans sharing their experience and knowledge with others.
