Hello Seattle Musicians!
I was a music major long ago and I studied jazz guitar and music technology in community college back in the day right out of high school. I played in jazz big bands in high school and college and am pretty competent at reading jazz chords but I’m looking to get better at improvisation/soloing and reading and playing with other people… I’m a multi instrumentalist and have a little home studio in North Seattle. I’m also proficient in other styles such as rock, pop, and folk. I’m very eclectic with my musical tastes.
I don’t have grand aspirations to start a jazz band or anything as of right now, I’m just looking for friends to jam with where we can learn from each other and hang out and perhaps responsibly enjoy some cocktails or weed while playing jazz… I think eventually I want to play in a neo soul or funk group but I’m interested in learning more classic jazz standards for educational purposes / potential future gigs / personal enjoyment initially.
My thought would be that we could choose a few jazz standards each before each jam session to learn and then play together either once a week or once every other week.
If this format sounds fun and you’d like to grab a coffee or beer and chat about it and meet me, please send me an email and introduce yourself!
Cheers!
