WORCESTER, MA — Two local men were arrested Tuesday evening in Worcester after a shooting along I-290 in the downtown area, police said. Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Worcester police went to Mulberry Street on the east side of I-290 after getting an alert about gunshots. They found a Mercedes in the area that appeared to have bullet holes, police said. The passenger, a 25-year-old East Kendall Street resident, had visible gunshot injuries, police said. Police also found a loaded gun in the car. The wounded man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but police also charged him with carrying a gun without a license. The 24-year-old driver, a Southbridge resident, was cited for driving with a suspended license. After Worcester police discovered the shooting took place along I-290, state police took over the investigation.
