Description
older banjo player (4 and 5 string) seeks like minded amateur musicians to play original arrangements for fun. Not out to make money, only music. Goals would be to play for nothing at old folks homes, parks, insane asylums, street fairs, art festivals and such. Instrmentation desired: fiddle/violin/viola, Tin whistle, Celtic Drum, chimes, tambourine, stand up bass, vocals (must come up with original lyrics). Sorry, no covers, not interested. Want to fool around with evocative chords/counter point, harmonic interplay. I do not read music nor do I ever intend to but I have a some ideas of what sounds good and might put people in a trace (which, everyone knows, is the true purpose of music). Warning: I do not play Bluegrass nor do I ever intend to. No offence for you Bluegrass folks, but Bluegrass is a little too busy and happy for me. My influences are wide ranged, everything from Captain Beefheart and The Birthday Party to Igor Stravinsky and Maurice Ravel. I also include music I don't like as influences, by noting that I 'do NOT want to sound like this or that band/group. Maybe my agenda seems a little narrow, but, so be it. Looking forward to hearing from possible musical co-conspiritors, young and old alike.
