(July, 2022) The Albuquerque Concert Band is back at the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum! It’s been two long years since we were able to perform at the Balloon Museum, and we are ready to bring the citizens of the Albuquerque metro area not one, but three, free, concerts this summer! The fun begins with our first concert on Wednesday July 13th from 7PM to 8PM. Show tunes, marches, jazz, classical, we’ll be playing it all and some of our performances will showcase different instrument sections of the band. We encourage everyone to come on out and enjoy the fresh air, great music and fun atmosphere. Bring family and friends and enjoy an hour of toe-tapping music. Food trucks will be available at all three concerts. All are welcome to attend this fun and free event. Our other performances at the Balloon Museum will be on July 27th, and August 10th. Both concerts are on Wednesdays from 7PM to 8PM and are free and open to the public. The Albuquerque Concert Band has been in existence for over 50 years. The ACB is an all-volunteer group of over 80 talented musicians from all walks of life, with ages ranging from 18-86yrs. Rehearsals are once a week and the band performs all year-round. The band awards a scholarship to a New Mexico high school senior who is going to continue in music, in some form, in college. Named for the former director of the Albuquerque Concert Band, the Bruce Kroken Scholarship Award has been awarded since 2005. The ACB’s Fall/Winter/Spring concerts are held at the Eldorado High School Performing Arts Center except for the Holiday concert which is performed at the historic KiMo Theatre in downtown Albuquerque. Our summer concerts are performed at the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum and the New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park. The Albuquerque Concert Band has performed all over the metro area as well as in Grants, Los Alamos and Las Cruces. In May, the ACB co-hosted the Association of Concert Bands national convention in Santa Fe. This 5-day event brought musicians and bands from across the country to our state. The ACB is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Our concerts are free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted, are tax deductible, and help to keep our group up and running.
