Description
Responsible for blasting metal or hard composition objects to remove scale, paint, rust and dirt. Work will be performed at the Melrose Park facility using high-pressure equipment. Blasting may also be performed using tumbling barrels or blasting cabinets.
Will be using a hand sprayer and wearing a HAZMAT type suit with a respirator in a blasting room. Abrasive blasting or spray painting experience is a plus but will train.
Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment.
Shovels or pours abrasives, for example sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper.
Loads parts into tumbling barrels or into cabinets. Able to lift 50 lbs.
Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
Packages and loads finished parts as appropriate for shipping onto trucks.
Forklift experience is a plus but will train to load and unload parts.
Able to read instructions, drawings or prints.
