Salida Goes Surreal' is an annual celebration for local artists and non-artists to tap into their imagination to envision a reality beyond the current situation. Surrealism is an artistic movement started in Europe in the aftermath of World War I and the 1918 pandemic. The Surrealists sought to "free mankind from the shackles of conscious logic and reason which had only led to war and domination."* Emphasizing the power of personal imagination, Surrealists explored the workings of the mind, and championed the irrational, the poetic and the revolutionary.
