Description

Join us for this Story-Share and Community Conversation about the history - and present - of girls and women’s incarceration. How can communities understand and support the needs of self-identifying young women and their families today? Can we reformulate and reclaim the language used over time to define and confine youth? Feminist oral historian Sady Sullivan will guide us in deep listening and we will hear from women who were confined at the New York State Training School for Girls (1904-1975) when they were teens, along with young women today. This event is part of the free public programming around the exhibition at Ann Street Gallery: Incorrigibles: Bearing Witness to the Incarcerated Girls of New York. This event is FREE! A light lunch will be provided. Masks, hand sanitizer, and water provided.?Please join us around the corner at Ann Street Gallery for an arts workshop from 2:00-4:00 PM For more information please call 917-575-1025 or email: [email protected] In collaboration with: Ann Street Gallery and Safe Harbors of the Hudson Supported by: Humanities New York, OSUN Bard, The New York Foundation for the Arts
