Description

The Presentation Presenter Jhoanna Belfer of Bel Canto Books will talk about her journey to open an independent bookstore and help create a thriving book community in Long Beach. She will also talk about summer reading recommendations and tips on starting and maintaining a book club of your own. Event Details This event is $5/person and open to the public. FREE for current Ironfire members. 18+ only. ADA accessible. No pets permitted. No service animals please. Space is limited, so RSVP is required. There is plenty of free parking on site. Workspace tours, tastings, and networking opportunities will be available. Following the event, non-member guests are welcome to make use of our workspace and enjoy our amenities free of charge until we close at 6pm. Health & Safety Notice Face masks will be required during the event, except during tasting activities. Anyone who has come in contact with COVID-19 during the 14 days leading up to the event is asked to stay home. For the safety of everyone participating in this event, we strongly discourage unvaccinated persons from attending. Ironfire staff is 100% vaccinated. About Your Presenter Jhoanna Belfer is the founder and owner of Bel Canto Books, an independent bookstore in Long Beach, CA. A Filipina-American poet and former hospitality executive, Belfer started hosting pop-up book events in 2018 as a way of connecting her business experience with her lifelong love of reading. She currently serves on the American Booksellers Association's Booksellers Advisory Council and is a founding member of the Burning Issues Book Club.
