DATA TRANSPORT SPECIALIST

San Jose CA
Description
Sharper Shape, Inc. Sharper Shape is a SAAS (Software As A Service) company that works with utilities to inspect, monitor, and maintain electrical infrastructure. Our software powers utility inspections using drones, helicopters and ground inspectors. We have completed several major inspection projects across the country, and we are currently staffing up for another large data collection project in California. As part of this effort we are seeking a Data Transport Specialist to drive data disk drives from various locations in the Northern California region to our centralized data upload center in San Jose, California. This position will be temporary with a variable workload of between 25 to 40 hours per week. Most of the hours will be spent driving long distances on a daily basis, often during the afternoon and evening hours. A smaller percentage of the time will involve work in the data center, connecting and disconnecting portable hard drives and reformatting used drives for redistribution to the field crews. Fuel costs will be paid and a company vehicle will be provided for this position. Project: From mid-July through October 2022 Sharper Shape, Inc will be performing a survey of electrical infrastructure along the California Central coast, Northern coast, East Bay and Sierra foothills. Sharper Shape will be using helicopters equipped with proprietary sensor technology to fly over these areas and collect large amounts of data. We expect two helicopters to be in operation concurrently in the areas mentioned above. After each day of data collection, data drives are removed from the sensor systems by the helicopter sensor operator. These disk drives must be immediately transported from the remote airport to our San Jose office, where the data is uploaded for analysis, processing and delivery to the customer. We are looking for a person who is flexible, dependable and willing to drive long distances to transport these data disks and other necessary equipment to support our teams in the field. In addition, this position requires that the Data Transport Specialist access the San Jose data center to connect and disconnect drives to our server as necessary, and to reformat disk drives after they have finished uploading. These “clean” drives are then taken back to helicopter crews and exchanged for recently used drives. Position: ● The Data Transport Specialist will work under the supervision of the Project Manager to help achieve project deliverable objectives. ● Frequent coordination with helicopter Sensor Operators by phone, email, and Slack is expected to arrange for the exchange of data drives. ● The Data Transport Specialist will access Sharper Shape’s upload facility to plug in drives and reformat drives for reuse once data copying has been completed and verified. ● Work up to 40 hours per week is possible depending on the location of flight ops and driving distance. ● A company vehicle will be provided and fuel costs will be reimbursed. ● Operations will occur Monday - Friday. ● Temporary W2 employee. Candidate: ● High school diploma or GED certificate. ● At least 21 years of age. ● Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. ● Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. ● Safe driving skills and ability to multitask. ● Excellent communication skills. ● Punctual, reliable and trustworthy. ● High level of flexibility. ● Willingness to work in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment. ● Familiarity with the Northern California area. ● Moderate level of knowledge of computer hardware and software required. ● Background check including drug screen and DMV Report required. Compensation: ● $23/hour ● Bi-weekly pay
