Learn about the Indigenous lifestyle of the first people of Orange County - the Acjachemen Nation.
Jacque Nunez is a member of the Acjachemen Tribe, Chair of Education for 15 years, a graduate of USC, an award winner of American Forensic League. Jaque received the Most Outstanding Speaker Award from USC for three years and numerous medals for superior accomplishments, including 1st Place Gold Medal National Speech Competition as she traveled across the country competing on the National Collegiate Speech Circuit. Since 1997, Jacque has worked for the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center and Mission San Juan as their Native American Storyteller.
Working as a Master storyteller, Teacher, Singer, Director, Writer and Cultural Consultant, Jacque has made a successful career out of sharing her Acjachemen ancestral lineage. She prides herself on preserving and passing her culture along through the oral Native American tradition of storytelling. Jacque has worked as a Cultural Consultant conducting teachers in services, assisting in the Youth Ambassador program, creating Fourth Grade curriculum that completes a more accurate history of California Indigenous people.
