Let’s paint outside!
I love to urban sketch. It connects you to your elements outside, and encourages you to work quick. Whether you are trying to capture someone riding a bike or grabbing a bite to eat; or maybe you are an architectural person like myself, you can capture a building before it’s gone. The main goal is to be apart of life. It’s constantly changing.
For this workshop, we will meet in Memorial Park in Riverside and we will sketch some daily activities, trees and even the buildings around us. The kit provided will include a unique and cool paint set that is made by Viviva Watercolors (please look them up), a water-brush, a pencil and a watercolor paper pad 4” x 6”. Only thing you will need is a chair.
Let me show you how to paint outside like an urban sketcher. Maybe you will want to join our Urban Sketchers of Jacksonville group. I would love to meet you and get to know everyone of you.
Teresa Cook is born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She is an Abstract Architectural Watercolor artist and has been painting watercolor since 2012. She obtained her BFA from University of North Florida in 2012. Over the last 10 years, she has been traveling to different countries as well as around her native city. She creates mini watercolor abstractions, but she has always found pleasure in the landscapes and buildings that have been created over time. Each of her watercolor and ink paintings are created on a smooth paper called, “Yupo”, are meant to capture a moment in time without the interruption of people. You will not see human interaction within her art. She just traveled to Amsterdam for the 2019 Urban Sketchers Symposium, and working on Paris, France for 2022. She is an Art Instructor as well, and her workshops are now in session for 2022.
