Description
Hey there! I'm a high school social studies teacher, turning 46 in a few days (WTF), "play guitar", and I need to get out of the house more. Twenty years ago I was in a terrible pop-punk band that played around Baltimore a lot. After all of this time I'm still trash on the guitar but I would like to get better. I'm looking for other people approximately the same age, close to my location, who aren't virtuosos on their instruments, who would like to get together once a week or so for a few hours, play sloppy cover songs, eventually write some originals, and maybe play a gig or two. You should be sane, chill, be down to Earth, not a fantastic musician, and hopefully not addicted to cocaine or heroin (R.I.P. River Phoenix - gone but never forgotten).
I might be a terrible guitar player and an even worse singer but I do have pretty good taste in music. If you don't have similar tastes as me it probably won't work out. Some of the bands I like are:
Radiohead, Blur, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Deafheaven, Rolling Stones, Japanese Breakfast, Replacements, The Cure, Fugazi, Joy Division, Bowie, Roxy Music, The National, Bloc Party, Too Much Joy, The Rentals, Chvrches, Nirvana, Suede, Wilco, Sex Pistols, Smashing Pumpkins, Face to Face, New Order, Catherine Wheel, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Bauhaus, The Clash, Mitski, Nine Inch Nails, Erasure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Psychedelic Furs, R.E.M., The National, Afghan Whigs, Slowdive, House of Love, Built to Spill, Pulp, Oasis Van Morrison, Sam Cooke, Alkaline Trio, Getup Kids, AFI, Jesus and Mary Chain, Turnstile, etc.....
Say hello, be my friend, let's make some noise!
