BATAVIA, IL — Two Batavia men were charged with driving under the influence earlier this month after crashing their cars, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Ryan Conti, 20, of the 600 block of Papermill Hill Drive, was charged Dec. 13 with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage, according to Kane County court records. 14 Coronavirus Deaths Over Christmas Weekend In Kane County: IDPH Police said Conti caused a head-on crash around 3:20 a.m. Dec. 13 near River Street and Banbury Road in Batavia Township, the report states. The driver of the other car told Kane County deputies that Conti's car drove out of the forest before hitting her, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Conti told deputies he drank one beer around 6 p.m., but his blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.214 percent in a preliminary test, more than two and a half times higher than the legal limit, the report states. Ryan Duplack, 28, of the 200 block of Lake Street, is accused of drunkenly crashing his car into a utility pole Dec. 19 in Blackberry Township, the Kane County Chronicle reports. He told deputies he drank about six beers over six hours, but his blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.2 percent after he was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva to be treated, the report states. Conti and Duplack were released on personal recognizance bonds. Both are due to appear in court Jan. 25, court records show.
