Description
My roommate left their tortoise behind after moving out and no longer wanted it. I have been taking care of it but have other animals I need to tend to and don't have the time this little dude needs. Its enclosure is too small (I was planning on buying an actual tortoise table for him but like I said, I have too much going on).
You can take the hay, food dish and water bowl with the tortoise, but I need to keep the lights and tank (they're mine - he was being kept in a sterilite tub with only a heat mat, no lights). He's only around 5", a very small guy. I give him dandelion greens, romaine and timothy hay sprinkled with calcium powder maybe 4 times/week. I give him a daily water soak and let him roam the place for an hour or two (but can't leave him out because my dog has a high prey drive). I was also letting him into my backyard in an enclosed run so he could get some sun rays.
You must already own a tortoise cage. I will not rehome to anyone who plans to keep him in an aquarium. He needs to be in a large wooden box with space for him to burrow and an owner who can let him roam (these guys cannot be left in their enclosure all day, everyday! They need to come out and just walk around and get exercise). As always, please do your research. This dude will probably live another 50+ years. I will be picky with who he goes with. Also, I don't actually know the sex, but based on what little I do know about determining tortoise sexes, I believe it's a male. As far as his personality, he doesn't strike me as being scared when I walk by or pick him up. He seems really curious and just content to explore his surroundings. I'd keep him if I could.
Rehoming fee of $100, firm. Please send me a picture of your tortoise enclosure!
