Position Title: OSP Drop Tech Reports To: OSP Manager/OSP Field Supervisor Company Overview: StratusIQ is a premier service provider in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. StratusIQ constructs Fiber-to-the-Premise infrastructure to deliver internet, TV and phone service to both residential and commercial developments. This is an opportunity to join the Outside Plant team of an established but growing company in the exciting telecom industry. Job Description: This is a full-time position hourly position. The primary duties are as follows: 1. The employee will be directed by the OSP Manager, OSP Field Supervisor, Stratus IQ Management or other OSP team members approved to give direction as needed through approval of the management. The employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle with possibility of a utility trailer in tow. The employee must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and have a good driving record. A driver’s record will be requested from the DMV before any job offer will be given. 2. This person will normally work with the appointed person(s) on a two-man crew to place fiber or direct bury cable or bury conduit at customer addresses as per engineered prints or by direction. Conduit will be placed to the home or business on an as need basis. Experience with a large or walk-behind trencher and or cable plow is helpful, but the person can be trained if needed. This person will be trained to bore or trench under sidewalks and or other means as deemed necessary. The employee will also be required to excavate by hand and place handholes (HH’s) as needed. This person may also be trained to brake and splice fiber as needed during the drop bury process. 3. The Drop Tech must possess and use good common sense and be able to use practical methods to achieve results while completing the task at hand. Other duties will apply as needed. He or she may work directly with a team member or be directed duties by an engineering team member but will report directly to the OSP Field Supervisor or OSP Manager. 4. The Drop Tech must be ready and willing to except responsibility for their own actions and to complete the duties as directed by their superior to completion to the best of their ability unless otherwise approved by the Field Supervisor or Manager. Skills and Attributes: • Presentable to customers and able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors. • Basic knowledge of telecommunication plant, fiber, power, equipment and tool safety. • Ability to work independently and use good judgment. • Punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Must be able to work flexible days and hours, including overtime, weekends, and evenings per business needs. • Able to work outside on roadsides, lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders.
