Part-Time Farm Hand York Fresh Food Farms 150 Willis Road, York, PA 17404 www.yorkfreshfoodfarms.org, Work outside helping to provide healthy fruits and vegetables for the City of York, PA, and surrounding communities and with a great group of farmers and farmers market staff! York Fresh Food Farms needs part time, seasonal farm hands/farm workers for the 2022 farming season that will last until November. P/t farm hands work weekday mornings. The part time schedule is for 10 to 25 hours per week between 7:30 am and 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. York Fresh Food Farms can be flexible in scheduling for someone who may have another part time job or afternoon obligations. The job pays $10 to $14 per hour. All work will be performed under the supervision of the Farm Manager. Farming experience is not required. York Fresh Food Farms is a small, sustainable, urban vegetable farm. We are a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization. Our mission is to cultivate community health through agriculture, access and affordability by growing, selling and donating farm-fresh, affordable vegetables for local residents. The job includes preparing the soil for growing, digging, mulching, field transplanting and planting, weeding by hand or with tools, irrigation, trellising, harvesting, washing and packaging produce for sale or donation, greenhouse production, and record keeping. Additionally there may be cleaning and storing tools and supplies, maintenance, repair or other projects. Most of the work will be outdoors and in the fields. Farm work is physical work under all sorts of weather conditions. Applicants must be physically fit, enjoy working outside and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. A positive attitude, good sense of humor, motivation, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn are all very helpful attributes. Good people and communication skills as well as being able to talk and work with culturally diverse groups of volunteers and neighbors are a plus. Having a drivers license, being a York City resident and fluency in Spanish are a plus but not required.
