South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest Flex your mussels on National Oyster Day! Mouth as many mollusks as possible in 90 seconds to take home the title in this tide-to-table competition. The contest is limited to 12 participants. All fees will benefit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum Prizes: First Prize: $200 cash and a $150 gift card to use at any of the four venues at Charlie & Joe’s at Love StreetSecond Prize: $150 gift card Third Prize: $100 gift card Rules: Time Limit: 90 seconds Oysters may be flavored to taste prior to the start of the contest.An initial tray of 36 oysters will be available at the start of the contest.Additional trays of oysters will be available should a participant finish the initial tray of 36 oysters. All oysters must be swallowed to be counted.Oyster meat remaining on the tray will be deducted from your total.In the case of a tie, the first person to finish an additional 12 oysters will be declared the winner.Contestants may begin at the first whistle and must end at the final whistle.Oysters must stay down after the contest is complete for 3 minutes before a winner is declared.
