Description

DO YOU RIDE THE SUBWAY REGULARLY WITHOUT A FACE MASK? Researchers from NYU Langone Health are conducting a research study titled “Cardiopulmonary health of commuters when riding the New York City subway” to measure the effects of commuting on air, lungs, and hearts. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether commuting on the subway, mask-less, is harmful to a person’s health. This will involve two 3.5-hour visits, one primarily at a subway station and another in a “clean” outdoor location. You may be eligible to be in this study if you are: • Between 18-50 years old • An non-smoker with no prior history of cardiopulmonary diseases or complications • Are vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 • Are not pregnant What will study participation involve? • Two study visits to take place in the West Village and at our office in Midtown East. • You will be sitting on a subway platform for one visit and in a “clean” location for the other visit, each for a couple of hours • For each visit we are going to administer a questionnaire and collect saliva, urine, blood, and nasal samples, as well as measure your lung and heart function. There will be modest financial compensation as a thank you for being in the study. For more information, please contact our study team via email: [email protected]
