Description

My partner Mahalia and I have been singing and playing folk/bluegrass/old time/country/americana music together for awhile and are looking for new folks to jam with! We are late 20s/early 30s and in the Park Slope area. I play guitar and banjo (and a bit of mandolin) and Mahalia plays fiddle. I'd love to play guitar in this band so it would be great to find banjo and mandolin players or bassists in particular, but it couldn't hurt to have another guitar or another fiddle as well. We recently moved back to New York City from Vermont. We had put together a band in Vermont and played a couple shows at a local venue -- would love to do the same thing here, but we can start by meeting up to pick in Prospect Park. Examples of stuff we like to play and listen to: bluegrass standards (like Nelly Kane, Roll in my Sweet Baby's Arms, Lonesome Pine), fiddle tunes (Salt Creek, Whiskey Before Breakfast, Five Miles from Town, Red Haired Boy, etc.), other folky standards (Red Rocking Chair, In the Pines, Lone Wayfaring Stranger, Louis Collins), John Hartford, Gillian Welch, Devil Makes Three, John Prine, Bruce Molsky, Brown Bird, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Sarah Jarosz, etc.
