Michael Tropepe and Maria Malik perform live at Ossie Davis Theater. The complete works of Tchaikovsky for Violin. Some works are rarely heard. Tchaikovsky surely had a great deal of love for Ukraine. He used some Ukrainian folk melodies in some of his pieces, and under his initiative he encouraged the then Tsar of Russia, Alexander III, to open up an institution for higher education in Kiev, Ukraine named the Kiev Conservatory. The program will start with Souvenir d'un lieu cher, Op.42. Three pieces entitled Méditation (No.1),Scherzo (No.2), and Mélodie (No.3). This will be followed with his Violin Concerto, op. 35 in D Major the last selection on the program. Ticket price: Early Bird: $15 At door: $20
