A unique opportunity to photograph the sun as it rises between the arches of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Twice a year the sunrise appears behind the span the arch of the Skyway Bridge. The first of these times is in January. The challenge, unless you have a boat, is there only one place on land to see this view and get there by car. Where: Fort Desoto Park along the East Beach. When: Sunday, January 10th, at 7:00 AM. The park opens at 7:00 AM. I plan to get there at 6:30 AM and wait until the park opens. I'll head to the roundabout on the East side facing the Skyway. Directions: Take the next left turn after the pay booth. Take the road to the roundabout at the end. The road is called Anderson Rd, but I don't think it's marked. There no fees for this event - However, there are tolls and park fees to consider. Hopefully, the weather gods will smile in our favor!
