UrbanPromise is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide Charlotte's children and youth with the spiritual, academic, and social development necessary to become Christian leaders determined to restore their communities. We do this by hiring high school leaders (who we call StreetLeaders) to be mentors and classroom facilitators for our after-school program and summer camps. We also provide counseling services and lead weekly college preparation sessions for the StreetLeaders in order to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to be successful scholars and leaders. Our Summer Scholars group is made up of middle school students who have decided to explore the topic of Mindfulness and the role it can play in education. The students have spent the summer learning and engaging in mindfulness practices, meeting experts in mindfulness and psychology, and have also assisted in planning the fundraiser! This fundraiser will go towards creating a mindfulness space at another UrbanPromise site. There will be baked goods, raffle prizes, and a mindfulness practice session!
