BEYOND URGENT ALL 4 DOGS WILL DIE ON 7/5! WHY? - PLEASE UNDERSTAND MCACC IS PUTTING GOOD DOGS ON THE ELIST at a pace we volunteers can't keep up with!! THESE DOGS DESERVE TO LIVE (Shelter is open July 4th 12-4). Please check out all dogs below! They are not bad dogs!! All four are suffering from long periods of confinement with limited opportunities for out-of-kennel time to exercise and play. The just need out of this noisy, chaotic place!! HAMMERSTEIN: #A4737599 Hammerstein is a 1-yr-old, neutered brown and white American Pit Bull Terrier (43.2 lbs.). He is gentle, with a calm demeanor. Dog friendly too! He likes to be close and will jump up on an available lap and give “kisses”. He has been easy to leash and return to his kennel and walks well on-leash. He ‘’sits” for treats and takes them politely. He has shown a slight interest in other dogs, but no other negative behavior has been observed. Hammerstein has lost weight since he came into the shelter and has injured his muzzle. Both may be due to in-kennel stress. STEPH: #A4730829 Steph is a 4-yr-old, spayed, white and brindle American Pit Bull Terrier (54 lbs.). Dog friendly. Steph is a friendly girl that likes to be petted and will lean into get more. She knows “sit” and “shake” and takes treats gently. Steph has had no reaction to other dog passing by. She has been easy to leash and return to her kennel and walks well on-leash. Because she can be a little shy at times, the shelter is requiring that children in the home be 12+. BELLA: #A4550460 Bella is a 6-yr-old, spayed, brindle and white Staffordshire Terrier (60 lbs.) Bella’s previous owners said that she was good around both adults and children but became agitated around other dogs. Shelter notes describe Bella as a “total sweetheart” that is affectionate and friendly. She has been easy to manage when taking from and returning to her kennel. Bella pulls on-leash but pulls less when harnessed. Because she has been reactive to dogs at the shelter, Bella is required to be an only dog at this time. DONNIE: #A4706711 Donnie is a 1.4-yr-old, neutered black and white Border Collie/Labrador Retriever Mix (66 lbs.). Dog friendly. Donnie’s notes say he is a “super sweet boy” that loves getting petted. He is easy to take from and return to his kennel. He settles into a nice walking pace once he gets some energy out. He “sits” for treats and takes them gently. He enjoys playing with a ball and playing fetch. Donnie has shown interest in other dogs, but no reactivity. PLEASE REMEMBER!! All these dogs have been living in a high-stress environment and will need time to de-stress and relax!! They will benefit from a predictable routine as well as ample exercise and time to play. Unless noted above that there is an only dog requirement, it is possible that with a SLOW INTRODCTION, any could live with another dog.
