Bluegrass Guitarist for Established Band

Meets

Conway MA

Description

Seven Mile Line is a Franklin County based bluegrass band with a 15 year history, in search of a replacement for our guitar player. Our material consists of unique arrangements of bluegrass standards, and we pride ourselves in a wide variety of bluegrass music (we are strongly influenced by the Seldom Scene, Tony Rice, Hot Rize, Flatt and Scruggs, Don Reno, The Gibson Brothers, etc.). We all have careers and family commitments, but nonetheless try to practice weekly (usually Wednesday evenings), and perform regularly (perhaps once a month, but more frequently during Summer and Fall at local festivals and events). We are in this for the pure love of music and the joy of performing. We are known for our harmonies, strong song selection, and playful performance style. While we always have fun, we are also serious about trying to perform the music in the best way we can. We certainly don't rely on the band as an income-source, but are happy to perform (and earn modest compensation) at local venues as opportunities arise. We are looking for a guitarist who is accomplished in the bluegrass style, and is well-versed with the signature bluegrass runs and rhythm conventions. Good vocals are also very desirable (though not absolutely necessary), as this would allow us to have a third singer for stacked harmonies and occasional lead singing. If you are a team player, love bluegrass, know how to play bluegrass-style flatpick guitar (not folk style), enjoy making music for the love of it, and have strong chops and a willingness to learn our material (currently 30-40 tunes...but we are looking to expand our repertoire), please respond, and we will bring you in for a weeknight audition, which will include four songs: • Pike County Breakdown (key of A in the style of Bill Monroe) https://youtu.be/aNVPv2riE-Q • White Freightliner Blues (key of B in the style of JD Crowe) https://youtu.be/ONWKWlExVEc • Together Again (key of C in the style of Chris Hillman/Herb Pederson) https://youtu.be/u-TUH1DbQ7k • Any bluegrass tune on which you sing lead We hope to hear from you!
