DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The GBI is investigating the Sunday-night shooting of a Dallas, Georgia, man by Douglasville police officers.
Police first encountered Markus Alan Taylor, 36, when they answered a domestic-disturbance call from a house on Clark Street in Douglasville. After addressing the complaint and leaving, the officers learned that Taylor had outstanding warrants for "previous family violence charges," according to a Douglasville Police Department Facebook post.
When officers returned to arrest Taylor, he "did not comply with officers' commands," according to a GBI statement issued Monday. That's when Taylor was shot in the arm. He was taken to a metro-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither Douglasville police officer was injured, according to the GBI. Both are on administrative paid leave while the GBI investigates. Once completed, the results of the GBI investigation will be turned over to the Douglas County District Attorney's office for review.
