Housing is a human right, and the San Francisco HOT team is COUNTER to that aim.

Description

Greetings,  My name is Robert Tobias Tannehill, and I am the author of the press release below. I am part of a new chapter of Homes Not Jails here in San Francisco.  We are just beginning,  but are already  underway in our attempt to claim Tennant's rights on an unused parking lot in the downtown SF area.  We believe we have met the threshold to COUNTER any attempts at having us instantly brushed along, down the road yet again. Via the threat of being criminally trespassed by the SFPD. As we are all now subletting from the caretaker Nick M., our safe lot site mate. And do not feel their continued harrassment will prevail this time around. Who knows what will happen next, as we make our stand.  We feel our story is important to the local and even national audience, and that we will probably pleasantly surprise you too. Regards, Robert Tobias Tannehill One of, "Homes Not Jails " P.S. Our website is brand new so please bare with us as we get it up and going.... Also, see attached photos and videos to get a visual of what our site looks like and imagine what it could be. The owner is of the 1% and could easily write it off or donate it off.  So far, he hasn't even noticed us. Or we'd already be gone. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  HOMES NOT JAILS 2022 OCCUPIES UNUSED DOWNTOWN SF TRASHED PARKING LOT DESPITE THE CITY'S HOMELESS OUTREACH TEAMS IMMEDIATE COUNTER EFFORTS WHILE 40 PLUS VACANT OR UNUSED PROPERTIES SIT EMPTY AND IDLE AS SF's 8 THOUSAND PLUS HOMELESS POPULATION REMAIN UNHOUSED AND ON THE VERY SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF SOME OF MANY OF THESE VERY UNUSED UNITS Homes Not Jails 2022 391 Ellis St.,  San Francisco,  CA. 94102 July 4th 2022 We are just some of the about, 8000 Plus of SF City's homeless population. About 15 persons in all, yet growing. Some as young as three, others in their 50s. We are in cars, tents, and even just on the bare concrete. We are straight, gay, white, brown, black, and all the many shades of humanity. And we all share one very specific distinction. We are all struggling with the city's policy of constantly shuffling us all, every few days, from some concrete, to some other concrete. Not very far away. At times, in that the over 40,000 Plus, unused, abandoned, or merely forgotten properties in the San Francisco city limits. While the city's approach of services being offered is really ONLY just that, Offers! These same service providers offer us nothing. And as of late, are working completely counter to our goal of obtaining homes, or even just a small space to just exist as human beings. We are currently in occupation of 750 Golden Gate ave, a privately owned, for profit parking lot. Once a staffed lot. Now, for over a year, no longer staffed. It has been in disuse, disrepair, littered constantly with trash, and an occasional playpen for arsonists. Since january, our comrade Nick M. has had an oral agreement with the owner, a doctor at UCSF, to monitor the lot for fires, thefts, and vandalism. The rest of the about 15 (and constantly growing) persons have come along in the last 2 weeks or less as subletters of our comrade Nick M. who now claims tenants rights, as do we all, as subletters of him. We aim to, at least temporarily, use this unused lot as a starting point in us all individually, yet together, gaining permanent places to live/exist. We further aspire to infuse, the now Seemingly Dead or just temporarily on hiatus Homes Not Jails, into our a Nonprofit organization as well as a consensus based group trying to find or make a growing community of tiny homes we build ourselves with donations, repurposed items, and freebies. We have found ourselves met by the very people that are supposed to support and help us, call the police on us instead. All for not offering access to our claimed tenancys. Immediately rude and cursing almost immediately. Demanding  entrance as we watched in confusion. s These people seemed almost physically violent and otherwise threatening at the refused entrance. That it was only a rope between two poles. Nevertheless, we posted no trespassing signage, as well as signage stating whom we are and what we are doing. We are the same cars and Tents and people constantly moving back and forth in front of many of these properties I write around this very moment. I would like to say that however rude crass, and completely counter helpful the SF HOT tram was, a few days prior, the SF Public Health Department Outreach made it inside the ropes. (LOL) And were very nice and extremely helpful at hearing our plans to help ourselves.(Again Lol)The aforementioned hot team called the police on me, and left after them not showing for about an hour. But beforehand posted that their "Resolution Team", would be here on tuesday, July 5th, early, to resolutely move us along to some different concrete. The next concrete could be in front your audiences homes, or even your own son. Who knows! For a few more days. Just to do it again and again. As our comrade Nick M. has an oral agreement to work in exchange for rent, and we are his subletters, we all claim tenants rights, and dispute the SF hot teams attempt to harass us all again, into gaining no housing. And just being moved to another location. For the surrounding residents to be counting the minutes until we move away to the front of a different property. We invite the public to come out and support us in our asserting our human rights to exist in a safe and semi-permanent spot. As we remain together and steadfast against those that would move us, only to move us again. And also, we invite, those that can, to donate to our cause in expanding  Homes Not Jails into Homes Not Jails 2022, a nonprofit organization that helps the homeless community in San Francisco in building their own tiny homes. Similar to another former or forgotten program. If you're a news agency, please come out and report on our ongoing struggle. We believe this is newsworthy, and that your audience will be interested in this human interest story.
