Description

We will be banding live Barn Owls that nest in a nest box on the property and also be discussing the natural history of the 11 species of owls that can be found in Northern Colorado. We will be discussing the Barn Owl, Great Horned Owl, Long-eared and Short-eared Owls, Boreal Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Snowy Owl, Flammuulated Owl, Burrowing Owl, and Eastern Screech Owl. We will be discussing aspects of each species including thier courtship, food preferences, nesting habits, young, and much more. After the presentation we will be going to an active Barn owl nest and band the nestling Barn Owls. At that point you will see the owls up close.
