The Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute (BJLI) is hosting their 1st Annual Self-Care Fair. Self-Care Fair and Feminine Hygiene Product Drive. In recognition of Texas Fibroid Awareness Month. In 2021, the State of Texas passed two pieces of legislation recognizing the need for awareness of this health dilemma that affects many women during their childbearing years. Uterine Fibroids are noncancerous tissue growths in the uterus, and 80% of women will experience uterine fibroids by the age of 50. This Self-Care Fair will have a host of health screenings, educational tools, a feminine hygiene supply drive, guest speakers from the healthcare and beauty industries FREE FOOD, and more! This event is family-friendly and FREE for guests to attend. We do encourage all guest to bring a feminine hygiene product to donate to a local women's shelter.
