We have found that people who are performers (especially actors / actresses), teachers, concierge, those who have been in the food service or hospitality industry, or those who have retired from a previous career - are a perfect fit and really shine in this line of work. To make clear to those who are not clear - you will be a Segway Tour Guide, riding a Segway while giving tours of our great city to people from all over the world. It's a ton of fun, but not meant for everyone. We need energetic, positive, team-oriented individuals. Especially those who possess strong customer service skills and know how to have a bubbly / friendly persona. We are ultimately looking for All-Star employees that can prove his / her capabilities as there is definitely potential for promoting to higher ranking positions over time if you can prove yourself. Much like most service-industry positions, the majority of your income will come from tips. Unlike most service-industry positions that start at $5.50/hour, we start our Tour Guides at $16/hour. You DO NOT pool tips like Starbucks, your tips are your own. So to reiterate, you will start out at $16/hour PLUS tips (which could easily be $500 to as much as over $1000 /week for those working full time. I have some guides who are really good and walk away with $200-$300 in tips per shift. Potential for a raise after 60 days to those who show promise and good work ethic. If you stick with us you get a raise every year. ALSO, we have incentive bonuses: $20 for every 5 star review you bring to the business over social media like Tripadvisor, Yelp, Google, FB. We ensure you get tipped on large group events. $10 per person on 1 hour tours and $15 per person on 2 hour tours so say you have 10 people on a 2 hour tour, 2 guides take it out. You'll get $150 from Boston Segway Tours to split between the two of you each getting $75 CASH. If you get a tip from the group then it's that much more cash in your pocket. Serious money to be made here this summer! You must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid drivers license. Knowledge of Boston history and knowing your way around the streets of Boston is a plus, but not necessary and can be taught during training to fast learners.
