Description

György Ligeti: Sonata for solo cello Joseph Kuipers: 'to L. Cohen' for solo cello Joseph Kuipers, cello “Joseph Kuipers is one of the rare musical voices of today: the fresh sincerity of his playing, combined with technical sovereignty over the instrument. He draws a dark, singing sound out of his( Gobetti) Cello, and creates lines that seem to float effortlessly.” —BERLINER ABEND POST Henri Dutilleux: Trois Strophes Sur Le Nom De Sacher Andrea Casarrubios: SEVEN for solo cello Juliette Herlin, cello “impressive artistry” and “wonderful bowing technique” —SAN FRANCISCO CLASSICAL VOICE Gaspar Cassadó: Suite for Cello Solo Mark Yee, cello "Hailed for his rich tone and charismatic playing..!" Zoltán Kodály: Sonata for Solo Cello in B minor, Op. 8 Jonah Kim, cello "most vivid and memorable performance. He is a dominant artist in any context, musically and physically. The standing ovation was punctuated with shouts of bravo.” — SCOTT MACCLELLAND, PERFORMING ARTS MONTEREY BAY Texas Cello School is a charitable organisation dedicated to making music at the highest level. We foster and preserve a tradition of music making which focuses on freedom of expression and the ability to truly speak to audiences from the heart. Our mission is to sustain this approach to music, nurturing the new generation of musicians to ensure that the highest levels of professional skill are allied with the ability to perform with integrity. The unique value of Texas Cello School lies in the spirit of music-making which is created during the institute. In an era where much learning now focuses on outcomes, and success, our founder Joseph Kuipers, recognized the absolute necessity for musicians to learn to develop their own unique skills and voices in a live environment of immersion, learning to communicate, create and grow by doing. Texas Cello Cello Choir and Institute maintain this ideal, creating a safe musical environment where live musical communication can take place. Philosophy Each person is an individual and deserves to be treated uniquely. Texas Cellos is a cello choir of twenty eight advanced students and professionals whose mission is to learn great music in the inspiring environment of a cello orchestra alongside professionals, gain performance and rehearsal experience- while sharing the beauty of... the CELLO! Cellists are a unique bunch, with a shared love for sound, expression, and friendship in music making. A cello ensemble has a wide enough range to play from the bass to the soprano, and the sound is warm and lyrical throughout. Texas Cellos performs transcriptions from the chamber and orchestral repertoire ranging from Renaissance Motets of Palestrina and Byrd, to the baroque chorales of Bach, to movements of Beethoven and Mahler Symphonies, Barber’s Adagio, to Ravel’s “Pavanne for a Dead Princess”, Morricone's “The Man with the Harmonica” from the movie “The Good the Bad and the Ugly” to select songs from the Beatles “1” album arranged for cello choir. Texas Cellos is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (pending) and gives back to the community by inspiring and cultivating excellence in youth through music education, ensemble building, and through performance opportunities.
