As a guest composer-instructor at Improvisers’ Exchange Workshop, David Rosenboom will interact with students and colleagues in a variety of improvisation exchanges to examine: the roles of technical skills in improvisation, recognizing and working with sound language elements that emerge in improvisations, composing for improvisation, and improvising with musicians from multiple cultural contexts. Rosenboom will draw from his repertoire of improvisation exercises, graphic scores, text scores, modular pattern structures, and other materials that emerge as appropriate for the interests and backgrounds of the participants.
