Somatic Sanctuary Mini-Retreat :1.15 hr Asana Alignment, Meditation + Craniosacral Treatment + 1.15 hr Expressive Arts Exploration Join three healing arts practitioners for an afternoon exploration of your body, mind, and spirit. This Somatic Sanctuary Mini-Retreat will begin with a traditional yoga practice, Yoga Nidra meditation and the quantum healing of Craniosacral touch. Following movement settling, enjoy a somatic expressive arts activity to discover the richness of your inner experience. Yoga: Led through the lens of Raja Yoga, focusing on understanding the mind based on the 8 Limbs of Yoga from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra. Through a non-harmful and adapted practice to the different body/mind set in each of us, we will move through postures, breathing techniques and relaxation. The aim of the practice is to grow in touch with our true nature and understand beyond our mindset, while balancing our internal system (hormones/prana/chi) through a methodical combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and Vedic philosophy. Meditation: Following gentle movement, relax into a Yoga Nidra meditation. Yoga Nidra is Sanskrit for yogic sleep and practiced by ancient sages to consciously watch their samskaras, or "impressions of the mind.” It is a systematic practice of moving awareness from our external to our internal world. Practicing Yoga Nidra allows us to bring consciousness to the unconscious mind, to gradually free ourselves from old patterns and habits that limit our being. In this state of Alpha waves, we are in between vigilant and sleep states, where our body tissues and unhealthy mind habits undergo deep repair. Craniosacral Touch: During resting postures and meditation, you will have the opportunity to receive gentle hands-on methods of Craniosacral therapy; feeling the bones, tissues and fluids of the body being held as they shift to wholeness and a state of primary respiration. Craniosacral therapy is a non-invasive therapy designed to listen to and support nerve pathways in the body to integrate and heal. It is in this kind of accepting, receptive, and nonjudgmental holding field that healing unfolds at a cellular level. Various Craniosacral holds will be implemented, including your feet and head. Somatic Expressive Arts: To round out the experience, devote yourself to expressing your inner landscape and connect with your inherent creativity. You will be invited to enliven the potent dialogue between body and imagination, life experience and artmaking. Tap into art’s symbolic language and discover he(art)ful ways to revitalize your spirit and awaken insight. Art supplies provided. Together we will journey to cultivate creativity, flexibility, strength, body awareness, patience, compassion, and vital energy flow. This experience will relax your nervous system and unleash your spirit. As we relax our system, the subconscious takes precedence allowing for our return to the zero state, or simply put our essential selves. This is a space for total freedom and expression of self, as we develop a culture of mastery and flow rather than stress and struggle.
