Description
In this 2.5-hour workshop session, participants will use the piñata as a method of intervention, to raise awareness, and make personal statements against unrealistic beauty standards set by social media and society. This workshop will encourage participants to experiment with color, pattern, text, images, and traditional piñata-making techniques. Alongside the history of piñatas, Diana will share how she combines activism and piñatas to raise awareness of socio-political topics such as reproductive rights, violence against women, and migration. Participants will take home their finished piñatas. Diana Benavidez is a Binational artist from the San Diego/Tijuana border region.
