Let's take it back to the Roaring 20's with the Texas Gypsies! Period Costumes welcome! The Award-Winning Texas Gypsies’ Roaring 20’s show will take you back to the fun and carefree times of the 1920’s. They will be playing and singing hit songs from that era such as Ain’t She Sweet, The Charleston, 5ft 2, along with new original music written to authentically sound like it was from that period! For the last 10 years they have successfully performed this popular show throughout the USA and as far away as Dubai with great success. In fact, many audiences opt to attend the show dressed up in 1920’s costumes by donning sparkly flapper dresses, spats, handle bar mustaches, zoot suits and even 20’s swimwear top create a fun 1920’s Great Gatsby era time! Come experience the band’s show and be transported back to a time when music was upbeat and fun and times were easier! The Texas Gypsies are led by Steve Curry. Before the Texas Gypsies formed in 2004. Steve toured and recorded with many artists such as The Jacksons, Rapper D.O.C, 50’s icon Fabian, and has played guitar for many Texas artists and bands. He also lived in Los Angeles in the 90’s writing and performing music for many artists and song writers and touring with some. As the leader of Texas Gypsies, he and the band have won awards and were selected to the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpieces touring program, the Touring Artist Program of the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Mid-America Arts Alliance touring roster. He has toured with Texas Gypsies all over the USA and Internationally. He also has played guitar and composes music for television and film for Disney, Bravo, Cartoon Network, Fox TV, and on commercials for Mercedes, Ford, EA and more. The Texas Gypsies are: Steve Curry-Guitar and Vocals Brian Hartig- Drums - Brian Hartig grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he began studying percussion at age nine. He moved to Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in music performance. Hartig has performed and/or recorded with Lee Greenwood, B. J. Thomas, Texas Gypsies,Marchel Ivery, Sara Hickman, Jack Ingram, Jimmy Forrest, and Johnny Gimble Travis Udall is a double and electric bassist, composer, and educator from Houston, Texas. In 2018 Travis earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies - Bass with honors at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Travis has studied with several renowned bassists, including Lynn Seaton, Dr. Gudrun Raeshen, and Damon Smith. He has been playing bass and other instruments, such as guitar and piano, for over a decade and is a freelance musician playing with some of the best musicians in DFW with bands like The Texas Gypsies. When he isn’t maintaining a busy freelancing schedule in the DFW area, Travis teaches double bass, electric bass, acoustic and electric guitar, and piano. Joe Perez – Sax - a graduate from the University of North Texas in Jazz studies, has had the opportunity to freelance and teach in the Dfw metroplex for the past 6 years. After moving from Houston, he has had the opportunity to work and back groups such as the Jordan Khan Orchestra, the Texas Gypsies, "Little" Joe, Agustin Ramirez, and a plethora of other cover-bands. All this, in turn with teaching beg-adv woodwinds, makes him a quality session musician.
