Description

I just adopted Sam from a family McMinville who got him when he was a puppy. Due to them having small children they needed to rehome him to a quiet space. The family said they would take Sam back if not a good fit but they have now refused. Sam is a great dog in all respects - however, he needs a home where there are no shared walls with any sounds caused by neighbors because it causes him to alert, growl, yip/bark. He loves other dogs and lived with one in his prior home. He's healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, loves to go for car rides, hikes, frisbee, fetch, the dog park. He is truly a sweetie pie and I'm heartbroken that I can't keep him. I have reached out to every shelter and rescue in the region and haven't heard back yet on availability. I've tried everything to help Sam feel safe but he hasn't slept more than 30 mins at a time since I got him - therefore, I HAVEN'T SLEPT in over a week. I'm now going to try to board him somewhere for a while so I can get some sleep and think straight. Someone who knows Heelers and their needs would be amazing. I've had Heelers before, including fosters (and dogs of all breeds) and have never experienced anything like Sam. I think if I lived in a place other than an apartment it would have worked out just fine. He a cuddle bug!
