Speakeasy Motors, started by Evan Favaro in 2011, believes that every project should begin with quality hand made parts created by a skilled craftsperson. Their distillery, Speakeasy Motors American Whiskey Co, produces whiskey distilled from 100% New York grown grains and then barreled at a low proof. This traditional method creates a smooth product and allows less water to be added after aging to keep more flavor from the interaction between the whiskey and charred American Oak barrels. After aging, the whiskey is slowly brought down to bottling proof over several weeks, and then hand bottled and labeled on site. Evan and the team at Speakeasy hold a privileged place in the history of Hudson Valley distilling. They are keeping alive the work of wWw's dear friend Gable Erenzo, the proprietor/distiller of Gardiner Liquid Mercantile and the son and fellow distiller of Tuthilltown Distilling's founder Ralph Erenzo. Following his passing, Speakeasy took responsibility for Gable's most unique contribution to Hudson Valley distilling - a mobile still built on a flatbed of an 18 wheeler. We have seen plenty of crazy "frankenstills" on Women Who Whiskey tours, but nothing compares to this one-of-a-kind build.
