It has been over two (2) whole years since HopCat last opened its doors for live music, and since then the people of Detroit have been patiently waiting, but now the wait is over... Mark your calendars, clear your schedule for a night to remember! Saturday July 16, 2022, HopCat presents: CHECKER with accompanying acts, The Dartmoors and The Doozers! Doors open at 7PM ($10 at the door) Headliner and Main Event: CHECKER Haling from Detroit with their fascinating mix of "Beatles-esque" choruses, White Stripes-style of play, and Velvet Underground level of attitude, CHECKER aims for nothing less than the top of the music industry. With their eyes set on taking the rock & roll world by storm, CHECKER is known for their blue collar lyricism, mysterious aesthetics, and "chin up" attitudes. Lead by the songwriting of duo McKenna Fain and Cinquex, with dynamic drumming from Ariana Casada, their creativity is not limited by their power trio format, but expanded by it through no nonsense gimmicks and room shaking rock & roll ballots. The bold hopefulness of their sound and their fondness of musical greats from all genres serves as an important influence on them and lights the winding road towards their ultimate goal -- to be the most important band in the world. Proudly showing the green behind their ears, CHECKER continues the nearly lost tradition of every rock & roll star that came before them; stripping away the out of touch pop star, and corporate pig to reveal the authentic and caring world that truly exist behind the game. Keeping the party going: The Doozers The Doozers are a high energy indie/new wave band hailing from the suburbs of Rochester, Michigan consisting of four members: Sean Donnelly (Vocals, Guitar), Charlie Belleville (Guitar), Melanie Kelley (Bass), and Kyle Garland (Drums). Wherever the Doozers are, the dancing follows, as they are known for their playful attitude and sound. Their second EP, “School Store Promotions," was released June of 2018 and has since been the foundation for their current musical endeavors.
