Mio/Tuyo/Nuestro is a multidisciplinary evening-length work that takes you through the unfolding of the human love catalyst from the lens of BIPOC & Queer folk. As you venture through the intimate acts of play, sharing of secrets, and the rebellious act of community in celebration, you will be transported into different avenues and experiences of time.–It is liberating, it is unapologetic. It is your own personal love catalyst. Carne Viva Dance Theatre is a collective of raw radical movers, activists, and teaching artists based in Philadelphia, PA (Lenape Land). They create playful, erotic, and intimate works for the community of Queer, Trans BIPOC and address the issues of society through their work. Their mission and process as artists are to decolonize the body and to decolonize dance. They incorporate Afro-Cuban movement into their modern and improvisational practices. They strive to create meaningful work that revolves around the act of social, and political change, not only in their community but around the world. Implementing their identities like their Queerness, Latinidad, and their cultura to bring their communities together. Using this as a point of departure will bring us to a place where we can begin to dismantle the outdated policing of our bodies. Their collaborators are made up from all over the world, as they say, “we are de aqui, y de alla, and we believe that this work is for everyone.” Please no flash photography or video recording of the performance!
