A well-established irrigation company in New York City offering a career opportunity as an Irrigation technician with our company. The ideal candidate must perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of irrigation equipment and irrigation systems. Qualified candidates will be highly focused on providing superior services to our clients. We are looking for an experienced crew member who is hard working, dependable, ambitious and self-sufficient in to help us grow our business. Location: New York Job type: Full-time Pay rate based on experience. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain company standards in all interactions, including but not limited to, interactions with clients and personnel. • Install irrigation timers, piping, and valves. • Operate, maintain, and repair complex irrigation systems, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, and computer and irrigation control wires. • Routinely inspect irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly. • Repair & replace irrigation • Troubleshoot timers & valves • Ability to install brown drip, install emitters, and dig trenches. • Must be able to adjust timers according to weather and plant conditions. • Report any serious irrigation breaks immediately to the lead Irrigation Technician. • Prioritize work orders and use time efficiently. • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance. • Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches • Document process, produce timely and detailed service reports. • Properly inventory and stock all irrigation parts and tools to minimize down time. • Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization. • Troubleshooting skills (timers, electric, etc.) and determine proper solutions. Inspect, program, adjust, and repair irrigation systems as instructed • Install irrigation timers. • Install irrigation piping and valves. • Test completed irrigation systems for proper functioning of valves and timers. • Locate, excavates and repairs or replaces damaged or malfunctioning equipment. • Submit work orders site information via mobile device program and written work order. • Assist in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of simple and moderately complex irrigation systems. • Read diagrams and blueprints to lay out and locate irrigation valves, timers and wiring. • Restock van to ensure supply of necessary parts and equipment. • Keeps a notebook log of sites that require additional work and a return visits. • Evaluate trouble areas & develop solutions/repair estimates • Document equipment for each job • Ensure all company equipment and tools are maintained properly • Ability to travel to multiple job sites throughout NYC and the tri-state area. • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules. • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications • Applicants must be able to work well with laborers in their crew and communicate with clients on site. • Practice safety precautions • Design small irrigation systems • Collaborate with other employees • Always Maintain positive attitude & self-image • Build positive relationships with customers • Sales experience is a plus. Qualifications • Inter-personal skills • Decision making skills • Attention to Detail • Prior irrigation experience • Familiar with smart controllers • Knowledge of the proper care and maintenance of tools of the trade. • Knowledge of irrigation system installation, irrigation layouts, repair and maintenance. • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. • Knowledge of use of common hand and power tools (i.e. grinder, compressor and drills.) • Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. • Skill in installing, maintaining and repairing irrigation systems. • Skill in reading engineering drawings or blueprints. • Skill in following oral and written instructions. • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing. • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. • Ability to install brown drip, install emitters, and dig trenches. • Must be able to troubleshoot an irrigation system. • Must be able to adjust timers according to weather and plant conditions. • Sales experience is a plus. • Listening & observational skills • Willingness to be trained • Ability to receive and follow instructions • Ability to work independently • Lift heavy equipment (up to 150 lbs., on occasion, w/help) • Ability to bend and stoop on a continual basis • Troubleshooting skills (timers, electric, etc.) • Analytical skills • Must be a team player Recommended (though not necessary for the right candidate) Criteria: • Basic English/ Spanish Skills/ Bilingual a Plus • Driver’s License a Plus Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
