This Community Conversation aims to bring members of the Rockport and Camden communities together to learn more about emergency management and climate resilience in order to find common ground in the face of real-time problems, inspire curiosity, and have their voices contribute to meaningful climate action and the upcoming 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan.
This event is organized by The Climate Initiative, Maine Emergency Management Agency, and Knox County Emergency Management Agency.
The Climate Initiative is a non-partisan, solutions-based organization pushing for local, tangible solutions to a global challenge. They aim to educate, empower, and activate youth to advance climate action.
Emergency management protects communities by coordinating and integrating all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters. Knox County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) supports countywide emergency responses when a disaster or emergency incident extends beyond the normal mutual aid boundaries of the affected community, several communities or is regional. Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) coordinates at the state level in times of major emergencies, and it greatly assists the affected counties and towns.
