Description

Raising younger children during a pandemic has been stressful and isolating to say the least. One of the biggest concerns I hear from parents is that their children are struggling socially and emotionally and that there is a waitlist for much needed services for children learning to communicate and socialize. “Speak easy” is a casual gathering, ideal for parents of children (ages 2-5) seeking the tools to help their children who may have a suspected or diagnosed speech and/or language delay, developmental delay or simply need help with behaviors and improving their social skills. About our hosts… Kim Rothe CCC-SLP Kim graduated with a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology in 2001 from Long Island University and worked primarily in schools. However, while working on her second Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Stony Brook University, she and her husband had the opportunity to move to England. She then became internationally certified in Speech and Language Pathology and worked for the NHS in London for three years. Upon returning to the US, Kim and her husband moved to the Boston area to start a family and she began working in Early Intervention. Kim is currently providing speech and language therapy privately and at the Cohasset Learning Studio. She is a breast cancer survivor, a mom of two red head adorable boys, and her joys include a good run, a great book, live music, laughs with friends and watching a Rafa Nadal tennis match. Heather Whiting M.S., BCBA, LABA Heather earned her Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Human Services from the University of Massachusetts --Amherst. Heather has over ten years’ experience in applied behavior analysis working with children ranging in ages 1-14. Heather currently serves as the Clinical Director of EI/Home Services at South Shore Autism Center. Her favorite part of her job includes teaching parents strategies to increase their child's functional communication, which then decreases challenging behaviors. Heather lives on the South Shore with her husband and four children ages 3-10 years old.  Kim Rothe and Heather Whiting will team up to give parents the tools to help their child with communication and improve their coping skills. We all know that the wait lists for services is long and the process of can be very overwhelming. Raising Harts’ mission is to empower parents to help their children thrive.  We hope to see you there! Parking for Cohasset Learning Studio is best on South Main Street or in the public lot behind Lenny’s. Parking on Elm Street is limited.
