The Maintenance Custodian performs custodial duties and routine maintenance work on buildings, facilities, and equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for all general custodial duties and maintenance of the San Juan Center and Head Start Center. Work will be assigned by the Director of the San Juan Center in consultation, if needed, with the Director, Whidbey Island Campus or the SVC Facilities Team. This is a 62.50% of full-time, benefits and retirement-eligible classified position, working 25 hours per week based at the San Juan Center in Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island. The incumbent will report to the Director of San Juan Center. Nestled between the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound in the northwest corner of Washington State, Skagit Valley College is located 60 miles north of Seattle and 80 miles south of Vancouver, BC. SVC was established in 1926 in Mount Vernon. Operating as one college with several campuses and centers, SVC serves Skagit, Island and San Juan Counties with campuses in Mount Vernon and Oak Harbor, centers in Friday Harbor and Langley, and a Marine Manufacturing and Technology Center in Anacortes. This position is based at the San Juan Center in Friday Harbor, located on San Juan Island. San Juan Island is the second largest island in a chain of 172 islands in the northernmost stretch of Puget Sound of the Salish Sea and is only an hour away from the mainland via the Washington Ferry system. Skagit Valley College adheres to a set of guiding principles: Respect, Integrity, Open and Honest Communication, Collaboration, and Compassion Salary and Benefits: Salary is based on Range 34, Step A, $1,711.25 per month with periodic increments to $2,260 per month. Starting salary may be dependent on education, qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements. This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is a union represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. Conditions of Employment: Prior to employment, the candidate must pass a criminal background check. If hired you will be required to provide proof that you are either 1) a U.S. citizen, or 2) an immigrant whose status permits you to lawfully work in this country. Have, or ability to obtain by the time of hire, a Washington State Drivers License or equivalent and proof of auto insurance. Per Proclamation 21-14, employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than date of hire.
